Yes! This tournament is specifically designed for beginners and students who are new to chess tournaments.
It is meant to introduce players to the tournament experience in a supportive and low-pressure environment. Many participants will be playing in their first-ever chess tournament, and the format allows students to learn how tournaments work while gaining confidence.
Beginners and unrated players are encouraged and welcomed, and the focus is on learning, growth, and having a positive first experience.
Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring that their child is supervised for the entire tournament day. Please make sure there is an adult available to watch your child when they are not playing a game.
We are also looking into providing activities for parents during the tournament to make the day more enjoyable.
Food and concessions will be available to help keep players energized and focused throughout the event. We encourage families to consider supporting the school by purchasing from the concessions.
