Baltimore, MD. May 12-14, 2023 


There is no requirement to go to Nationals. It is open to all scholastic chess players.


No, you can be unrated and still compete at Nationals.


Essentially, you have to pay for airfare, hotel, food and registration fee.  Chessquarter provides a service of coach which will be an additional fee.  Typically, parents organize fundraising to offset the cost of taking a weekend trip to Columbus, Ohio. 


Please reach out to the organizers from your school and request a scholarship. Scholarships are for players only. 


The tournament starts on Friday at 1 pm. Most families choose to fly on Thursday but you can also come on Friday morning.


You can decide to go at pretty much any time.  However, if you are interested in off-setting cost you need to decide asap to help organize fundraising efforts. 


1. Book flights to National Harbor, Maryland. 

2. Book hotel  

3. Contact parent organizers for the tournament. 

4. Fundraise if needed

Go ahead and book bus, train or flights to Baltimore, Maryland before ticket prices go up.

Contact parent organizers from your school for the tournament.

Most schools have a group of parents who organize and fundraise to offset the costs. If you do not know the parent organizers at your school please contact me at stephanie@chessquarter.com

Register for the tournament

To register for the tournament please visit the 2023 National Elementary (K-6) Championship website and register before 4/24 to avoid the fee increase.
