Any student between grades K-6 are elgible to paly in the Elementary Nationals. Here is a list of FAQS about Nationals.

There is no requirement to go to Nationals. It is open to all scholastic chess players.
No, you can be unrated and still compete at Nationals.
Essentially, you have to pay for airfare, hotel, food and registration fee. Chessquarter provides a service of coach which will be an additional fee. Typically, parents organize fundraising to offset the cost of taking a weekend trip to Columbus, Ohio.
Please reach out to the organizers and request a scholarship. Scholarships are for players only.
The tournament starts on Friday at 1 pm. Most families choose to fly on Thursday but you can also come on Friday morning.
You can decide to go at pretty much any time. However, if you are interested in off-setting cost you need to decide asap to help organize fundraising efforts.
1. Book flights to National Harbor, Maryland.
2. Book hotel
3. Contact parent organizers for the tournament.
4. Fundraise if needed
Go ahead and book bus, train or flights to National Harbor, Maryland before ticket prices go up.

To register for the tournament please visit the National K-12 Grade Championships website and register before 11/21 to avoid the fee increase.
